I rebuild engines, rear ends and many parts on a car, but transmissions, especially automatics, require lots of specialty tools and equipment to do a rebuild correctly. Haynes has shop manuals that are a great help. I have one that covers GM automatic transmissions. It will definitely give you an idea of what you're in for. A place like Advance or Auto Zone usually carries them.
