well as far as that truck goes, i dont know, but i use my straight 6 jeep to pull trailers. it not going to pull like a truck due to its physical side, but that straight 6 will pull the hell out of stuff. i hook 3-4000 lb rvs to it and tow them, its little swingy, but thats the car, not the engine.
it pulled a honda CRX sideways one time when it had to be gotten out of a yard. dragged it sideways. so power is there in a straight 6. but obviously a V8 will have more, depends on how heavy the trailer and what speed youw ant to go.

Should do ok, but like Burt said , those rear coils will sway all over and can`t handle the load, might need air bags and a rear cross link installed

Yes they are a little doggy when towing.
I would look into a V-8 for more power. 350 or 400 CID.

Also some light half tons had rear coil springs that would not carry much load. Do not use the rear coil spring unit for heavy towing.

That would be too much for a small engine to handle. You not only need to think of power from the engine but having suspension strong enough to handle the weight , brakes strong enough to stop the added weight and a cooling system that will take the work without failing.
