the first chevy Silverado wasnt made until 1999. You must be talkin about the CHevy C/K pickups. C if its 2WD and K if its 4WD. Chevy never made a 4.2 liter motor for pickups and The body style design didnt change much between 73-87, the duel fuel tanks was optional mostly for the bigger sized trucks.

Yes, They don’t make them like they used to. They are solid as a rock!! I think the 4.2 is a little under powered, but it will do fine. In good running condition I wouldn’t go over $1500 for one.
Every vehicle has it’s problems, but that body is solid. Put in a good running 350 and you would have a Great truck.

i think you mean 4.3,or the 305 engine which it could have had in it they are alright trucks to own i have a 95 that i drive a lot,the 86 model didn’t have as much pollution control on it and they ran pretty good,if you found one with low miles and that isn’t beat all to pieces you might have found a good one,watch out for rust,because they did rust a lot,other than that those are good trucks,reliable is the word I’m looking for on that one,it sounds pretty decent ,just have it checked out if your going to buy it,Chevy did some weird things but the only ones i have seen with dual tanks was the ones with the bigger engines and they was mostly 4 wheel drive models,good luck on it.

New, yes. Used depends on what has happened to it in the meantime and whether it has been properly and regularly serviced and maintained.
A 4.2 engine is not particularly strong for a full sized truck, however.It is a powerhouse with an S-10 or S-15/Sonoma,
No idea as to dual tanks, but doubt it with a 4.2 engine.

It will last a while if taken care of, for the most part they are good pickups. It will be a little underpowered– as for the dual tanks i cant say, i have a ‘87 silverado with dual tanks but it has a 350. Btw, they had silverados long before 2000.

I also have a 1986 Silverado shortbed with a 350 engine and it came with dual gas tanks. For some reason they seem to rust very easily but its a good reliable truck when taken cared of.
