You would have to shorten the frame and drive shaft. Not recommended.

welll your gona have to shorten the drive shaft and remount the axle and cut the frame and why wouldnt you want an 8 foot bed

Earlier answers are right, it is a lot of trouble going shorter on the truck bed. Check a salvage yard for a replacement 8 ft bed. If you already have the 6 ft, you might make a deal with them for a swap. Going shorter is not the cheapest or best way to go.

i would stay with the same size cause u might weaken the frame so if u can stay with the 8foot bed unless the frame is bent then u can and if it is not stay with the eight foot

The others above me are correct. You would have to do a lot of modification to make a shortbed fit.
Go to one of you local parts recyclers. They have stacks of beds that have been taken off work trucks and replaced with tool boxes or flat beds. Most of them are priced very reasonably.
