Cubby has it right.
Identify what carb you have, and get the rebuild kit. If your local parts place doesn't have it, check Summit Racing.com or Jegs.com. The kit will have instructions in it. Also get yourself some spray carb cleaner, to wash the parts that you will be reusing.
Good luck.

Get a digital camera and take pictures as you take it apart so you can remember where parts go. If its a carter carb its easy, a holley is mostly vacuum passages. If its a quadrajet , good luck, they are a pain and wear out. When you get your rebuild kit you will get instructions with it. This shows where to get proper carb numbers to order kit.

check with
Most auto parts stores and GM part stores carry or can order the carburetor rebuilt kits. Every kit that I have used, have the rebuild instructions included.

Find out what type of carb you have on your truck, go to auto parts store like Napa and get a carb kit. There is usually instructions in the kits.(The ones I used to get did and they were for a Holley double pumper.)
The main thing you want to change out is the jets and the accelerator pump along with the gaskets.
Good Luck!
