Over time leaf style springs may lose a bit of their flex and flatten out, making them less springy and puts more stress on the shocks. If you do a great deal of hauling, have an add a leaf installed for extra support. Replace the shocks if you have put 7,000 miles per year.........that means the shocks you have on the rear have around 70,000 miles on them. Good luck !

sounds like shocks if you do alot of hauling may need to add a set of add on helper springs. look close at your springs and see if there are any broken ,if not a set of add ons is a cheep fix and the new shocks will last

Although my best guess would be go for the shocks as long as the springs don't appear to be broken, your best bet would be to take it to a place that does alignment and suspension work and ask for a diagnostic on the rear suspension. It shouldn't cost too much for them to give you a report on what it needs. You don't have to commit to repairs.
