i use to run a dealership.. MAKE sure that it does not have a after market installed as well. If it does this could be your issue. but if it does not, it is most likey not your remote, it is the pass key system. To be honest, when they start to get older witht eh keyless entry, you are better off to just have it unhoooked and make sure your key slots are lubed up, and just start using your key to unlock it. sometimes they are just not worth the time trying to fix . Just to be honest.

Chances are it isn't related to your "keyless entry" system. It could be related to the pass lock system however. It is a passive security issue. Unfortunetly there is no way to "disable" it that I'm aware of. There might be a way to bypass the system, but the easiest way is just to replace the passlock sensor (located inside the lock cylinder housing) It will take you about an hour. And the part will cost you approx $98 (GM PART #26049449).

But that is the "typical" cause of the failure. (usually the security light will be on. The yellow light that looks like a lock). Randomly I went over to get the part # for you and an independent shop was here buying the same parts.
