After being redesigned last year, Chevrolet’s full-size truck enters 2008 with only minor changes. The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Extended Cab is available in three trims: Work Truck, LT and LTZ trim in either 2WD or 4WD configurations.

The Silverado comes in many trims to fit each buyer’s need. The short box versions vary from the LS, the LT1, the LT2, and the LTZ.

Older versions of the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup have been praised for their strong work ethic but soundly criticized for their bland, often overly plastic-endowed cabins.

A truck with the enormous physical and mechanical appeal of the Silverado 1500 does not go unnoticed by neighbors, co-workers, or the automotive industry.The Chevy Silverado 1500 is available in several trim levels: WT, LT and LTZ, plus an LS version in standard cab, extended cab and crew cab body styles. Engines include a 195-hp 4.3-liter V6 engine; a 295-hp 4.8-liter V8; a 315-hp 3.5-liter V8 in gasoline or flexfuel (gasoline and E85 ethanol) versions; and a 367-hp 6.0-liter V8.

Calling cards of the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 include strong performance, a refined and quiet ride (even with the heavy-duty towing package) and a comfortable, well-finished cabin.

Antilock brakes (front disc, rear drum) are standard on the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, with an all-disc version optional.

Manufacturer incentives and rebates frequently change.

Available on a limited basis in all 50 states, the Silverado Hybrid offers a 5.3Liter V8 engine that produces 295HP along with a 14,000 watt electric generator that works closely with the engine to increase fuel economy by 10%.

The previous generation of Chevrolet pickups ran from 1988-’98, and were simply known by their number nomenclature 1500 (half-ton), 2500 (3/4-ton) and 3500 (1-ton). Standard cab and extended cab body styles were offered, as was a crew cab, though the latter was actually from the previous 1981-’87 generation.

For the first year, only the regular cab and 3-door extended cab were available, along with the Vortec 4300 V6 (regular cab only), Vortec 4800 V8, and the Vortec 5300 V8.

These are both work trucks, which should only be purchased by people who really, really need them.

If you really do need a full size truck, the Silverado is the best in its class.

GMC created an upscale version of its Sierra 1500 in 2001 called the Sierra C3. It used all-wheel drive and included the 6.0 L Vortec 6000 V8 rated at 325 hp (242 kW) with other upscale equipment.

Resolved Question: 1995 Chevrolet Silverado 4.3 liter V-6 engine swap?
I own a 1995 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 1/2 ton 2 wheel drive with a tired high mileage 4.3 liter V-6 Vortec (throttle body fuel injection). I would like to swap another 4.3 liter V-6. What year engines would be compatible?
