Can you identify this high-pitched squeal in my 1970 Chevy truck?

Something may be loose in the car or something may need oiled.

first check the rear end (differential) oil level

check oil level in transmission next

you’ve got a bearing problem- it may be axle bearings, carrier bearings, or thrust bearing, but it’s a bearing- check the axle bearings first and don’t drive it until you find the problem- if the thing comes apart on you you could wind up with a serious problem- like a loss of control and accident kind of problem.

If the pitch increases with speed, then sounds like may be a wheel bearing. If it is pretty much static with only slight increase with speed, on a truck that old, could be wind whistling threw something, hole in the bed, what ever.

it sounds like you could be having a problem with the rear differential, most likely the gears are worn and may need to be replaced
