never heard of that happening, I know brand new engines will run a little warmer than usual during break-in phase but not to the point of overheating. I’d inquire into that issue a little further with the dealer.

Are you reading the temp. gauge or have you observed that it is overheating. Can’t always trust the gauge. Personally, I would be back at the dealer and get a receipt stating what is wrong. You may need the receipt later if you need more work.

Underneath your truck is a plastic strip about 4-5in wide and it bolts on right beneath the radiator and its called an air dam as it forces air up into the radiator from underneath. Sounds like yours is missing

Questions like yours are very troubling to me. To what extent is the truck overheating? Also, if it’s brand new then why are you wasting people’s time here when it must have a warranty mandated by law. If your truck really overheated I would demand a new engine or better yet a new vehicle. Disregard what anyone saying that a new engine is supposed to run a little hot… Overheating means that the engine temperature is higher than specified by the manufacturer.

Nope. I have a 2001 with 225,000 miles and it has never overheated.
I’m not sure how much you know about these, but for the newer (99 up) silverado V8s, 185 degrees is perfectly normal running temp. A good bit higher than the older ones, but its supposed to make them more responsive. Is that what you are referring to? Or is it severely in the red zone overheating? Even so, I’m not familiar with them having such a problem, and while I’m no mechanic, I’m very familiar with GM trucks.

Someone was driving a new cadillac and the engine overheat light came on. They thought maybe they had it in a lower gear than drive.
A new ford van was delivered to a business and began overheating right away. The vehicle was returned to the dealership for another one with no problems.
